May 15 Not longOnly a few days to the event.... 28 people signed up including some of the greatest talent in the UK in attendance...
Looks likely to be a great event and good to be back at the GGA... just a shame there are a few other issues going on this week that are taking my eye off the event somewhat... hopefully the stuff will be resolved in the near future :)
On a plus note... I played the demo of HAZE on the PS3 the other day and I am very impressed and will be on my shopping list :)
May 10 Another week passesThought I would give another insight into the not so interesting life of Matt Barr.
Work = Crap
Attempts to get further interest for backing of my events = Crap
Failure to be told of impending changes to stuff that involves me = Frustrating considering I have mainly been the bloke who has highlighted most of the problems and the need for change in this area.
Good news is, it looks like I have got support for my upcoming Pesrankings Event at Matchbox Xl. I have been working so hard in the past to secure support for this event and finally the powers that be have taken notice. I don't exactly know what the full support will be at this time, but hopefully it will be good.
Still churning through GTA IV... top game and loving every minute of it :)
Not the greatest week of my life... but it can only get better.... looking forward to my event next sunday, hopefully will get a full turnout :)
Until then
:) May 04 The British Pro Evo GuildHi All, Thought I would let you know abit about what I do.
I have been running Pro Evolution Soccer Event for about 5 years now.
I first started off as a player competing in the Konami National PesLeagues and basically took up the chance to start running some of my own events at one of the venues in Birmingham called the Global Gaming Arena (www.globalgaming.co.uk). Due to the success I had, I became an actual Konami National League Ref and hosted the Birmingham events and turned the event into one of the most well run in the country. During this time I was still running my own events and by this time we had founded a guild name for the events, and became known across the UK as B.P.E.G (British Pro Evo Guild)
Back then I was just running events on the PS2 and our events gained recognition and interest from players from all over the UK. Due to our popularity within the community, I was invited to become an Official Event Admin for Konami's Pesrankings National Ladder Based UK Championship (www.pesrankings.com), which had just been set up that year.
Without going to much into detail, B.P.E.G became an integral part of Pesrankings Events and paved the way for other upcoming events to follow. We not only held the most well known offline events in the UK, but I also hosted the online Pesrankings Events on behalf of Pesfan (www.pesfan.com). I have also since gone onto hosting the Pesrankings Offline Events for UK based Lan Event MATCHBOX XL which is held at the NEC.
During my time as an Event runner, I switched formats from PS2 to the Xbox 360 and continued to run events at the Microsoft Experience Area at Gamestation in Birmingham City Centre. These continued in the same form as the PS2 events, they were a huge success!!!
We have recently returned to the GGA and will be hosting our next Xbox 360 Event in the next few weeks and I urge you to check www.pesrankings for details to join.... that is if you want to face off against some of the finest pes players in the country.
B.P.E.G is the UK's most well recognised event in the UK and the players from all over the UK come to challenge their skills against others... its also one big laugh and a good day out.... Of course I could not of done this on my own and hold alot of credit to my right hand man Makenshi (Chris Stokes), Farrmark and Oldboiler.
B.P.E.G is a non profit making organisation... any fees charged either go towards prizes or venue hire and everything I have ever done has been for the community for free.... I am hopeful one day that someone will take notice and back us... Hopefully that will come sooner rather than later.
Other than that I am not a bad pes player myself...
Last year I was the Pesrankings Xbox 360 UK Number 1 and have won countless events including a numerous Bpeg Titles, a HMV Tour Record Holder, a Matchbox Xl Title and I am the current Reebox Pesheroes Uk Champion and European runner up.... not bad for a 30 year old bloke that don't practice much.
If you want to find out more about B.P.E.G, you can find our forums in the Pesrankings Event Section at www.pesfan.com and also www.pesrankings.com

Matt
HIHi There and welcome to my space.
My name is Matt and I have been a gamer for just over 20 odd years, before you think I am some old git trying to connect with the youth of today.... I am only 30 years old, so I am still quite young.
I started playing games way back on the Nes and followed onto the Snes and N64... I think its fair to say like many people my age, I grew up as a Nintendo boy and was constantly engaged in bickering with rival Sega fanboys (Alexkid was not match for Mario!!!)
As I grew older I swapped to the Sony Playstation systems and then onto to Xbox... I now own a Playstation 3, Xbox 360 Elite and a Nintendo WII. I love all my consoles the same and in all honesty I see a market for each. I don't get involved in petty debates about which console is better, because to be honest.... Does it really matter!!!
Each console has its strengths and weaknesses and I am just glad that I am fortunate enough to own all three and enjoy the best games each format has to offer.
Anyways this is just a quick hello to all out there and I hope to interest you with future blogs regarding my history of running Uk based Pes Events under my guild The British Pro Evo Guild.
See you soon
